Our order process is very simple and is arranged
into easy steps. You require no technical knowledge to order a hosting
account.
We use Worldpay
as our trusted payment partner and they are the only organisation
we pass your details to. This is to ensure your credit card details
are passed over the Internet totally securely.
All transactions, including your name, address and
card details are encrypted using 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
architecture and are signed using Thawte digital certificates during
transmission over the Internet to WorldPay. This means that your
details cannot be intercepted or read by anyone except WorldPay
plc.
Many experts believe that today's encryption techniques
make using a credit card on the Internet safer than using your credit
card to make telephone transactions.
SOHosts has no access to your credit or debit card
details. The only information we receive from WorldPay is your name,
address, email, goods ordered and amount debited.
What you need
To host your web site with us all you need is a
domain name (i.e. yourdomain.co.uk). You can register a new domain
with us or transfer your existing domain to us.
If you register a new domain with us, we will:-
- Register it for two
years;
- Register it in your
name;
- Not charge you to transfer
the domain out if you wish to move to a new supplier.
To transfer your domain name to us all you need
to do is contact your current hosting company or domain name supplier
and ask them to amend the DNS record of your domain to the following:

This is an important process as the DNS record points
the entire Internet to the location of your domain name, i.e. our
servers. However, due to the enormous size of the Internet this
can take up to seven days to complete (but typically 48 hours).
Getting Started
Once your domain name has become active on our servers
we will contact you via email with your account details, including
access passwords and information on how to get up and running.
We also provide step-by-step tutorials on how to
use your control panel and set up your account, including email.
