Sending and Receiving Email

To send and receive your email from your new hosting account, you will need to set up these email accounts on the email software installed on your PC.

Please remember that for your email accounts to work you will need to set them up on your hosting account via your Personal Control Panel first.

If you have additional email accounts supplied to you via other Internet Service Providers then your email software will need be able to handle multiple accounts. Software such as Outlook Express (free with Internet Explorer) or Eudora Pro are excellent choices for this.

If you do not what to change your email software to handle more than one account or are subscribers to AOL, your SO Hosts email will need to be "forwarded" to your existing account.

The email server details which you will need are:-

Incoming email (POP3 Server) mail.yourdomainname*
Outgoing email (SMTP Server)
smtp.yourISP**
Account Name youremail@yourdomainname
Password the password you set up for the email address

*Remember that yourdomainname represents the domain name SO Hosts has registered or transferred for you.

** To send email you will need to use your ISP's SMTP server address, i.e.
smtp.freeserve.net.

You can find these details in the properties of your ISP account (in Outlook Express click Tools> Accounts> then the Mail tab and then the ISP account then Properties, then the Servers tab).

To help you further please use our step-by-step tutotial to set up new accounts on your email software.

Nobody

You will be supplied with an email forwarder called nobody@yourdomainname. This is a 'catch all' for any email with any wording preceding @yourdomainname and is very useful in collecting email where the address has been miss-spelt or doesn't actually exist.

To ensure you get email from this account simply amend the desitination address to one of your existing email addresses.

Webmail

To access your email via a web browser from anywhere in the the world simply type http://webmail.yourdomainname. You will then be asked to enter the full email address you wish to access and its password.

Webmail login

Once you have logged in you can reead, reply and forward email as well as compose new messages. You have a set of persoanl and email preferences where you can add signatures or configure how you view your email.

If you have any queries please contact us at support@sohosts.com
