Started
setting up a new hosting account can seem daunting,
especially if its for the first time. Don't panic! Help is at hand.
Pick up the phone and call us local rate on 0845 644 1080 if you
have a problem that these support pages have not helped to fix.
Follow these steps for happy hosting with SO Hosts...
1. Change your passwords
Go to http://cp.yourdomainname and access your
hosting control
panel and change the passwords we have provided
you for accessing you control panel and accessing your web spce
via FTP.
2. Set up your email
on the server
While you are logged into your control
panel set up the email accounts you require.
Remeber to modify the email forwarder called 'nobody' to
send email from it to either a mail account you create on your control
panel or to another email address.
3. Set up your email
on your computer
Now that your email accounts are set
up on our servers you need to be able to send and receive email
via those accounts. Go to your email program to set up your email.
Most of our technical support questions come from
problems setting up email. If you are unsure about this precess

tutorial.
4. Uploading files
to your new web space
Now you are ready to upload your web pages! Set up your FTP
program with the details we provided you along with you new password.
Upload all your HTML pages and images to the htdocs
directory provided on our servers. Any databases should be uploaded
to the private directory.
Ensure your homepage is named either:
index.htm, index.html, default.htm, default.html for static pages
and, index.asp, index.php, default.asp, default.php for dynamic
pages
Your web site should be live immediately.
